Bulalo Mismo is on Facebook!

After putting up my boys' Paper Macheniacs web page on Facebook, now I've done the same for my husband's little food business.
Yep, I'm a giver.  Lol!

Give it up for the Bulalo Mismo's Facebook page!  Yeeeeeey...!

This page showcases Jing's amazing homecooked Filipino goodies.  Announces daily specials.  And exposes my lame attempt at being a food blogger.

Hhhawtness (ze blog) shares tips on easy and better-tasting cooking.  Even shares tradition and how to totally diss it in the kitchen --to lip-smacking results. :P

But enough about me.  Bulalo Mismo IS on Facebook.  LIKE it if you're hungry.

Alter Space: To Infinity and At Home!

Earth Love begins at home.
I say that maybe because I'm a mother.  But if I want to save the environment, I'd like the people who will enjoy the fruits of a better planet to start learning how to alter our little space in the universe as early as now.  Yup, I'm talking about the kiddos... the heirs of the world.

Oh, and when I say 'kids altering space', I mean do it in the most fun way!

It's a win-win that my boys' school share my philosophy.  They've got the kids opening their eyes to environmental responsibility through exciting trips and talks topped with 'Save the Earth' T-shirt-designing.

And logo-crafting.

At home, we do our share of the usual Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle bit.  But what really pumps our fun-loving creative juices is Recycling.

Old newspapers are altered into papier maches.

Clothes that would have met the garbage bin are altered into sock puppets.

Styrofoam junk is altered into the cutest real estates.

Those used plastic medicine bottles are altered into robots and rockets.

These pocket projects conserve energy (and yes, no carbon emission here) because all my kids need to accomplish so much are their insane loads of creativity and their God-given crazy level of fun.

Kinda think of it... we're just like Alter Space.   Alter Space is the 1st Filipino environmental awareness game on Facebook.  And a great discovery!  It gives my boys a chance to really alter space by creating their very own, brand new worlds the way they see fit.  How cool is that?!

All they have to do is play, do some independent decision-making, be happy, and learn about Earth Love and Altering Space in one sitting.  They haven't stopped since!

Hey, if it works with my philosophy, then it works for me.

Saving the earth one fun time at a time.  That's what we do.  What about you?

My Christmas Wish This Year: A Nokia C7!!!

When you're a stay-at-home mom who's also a soccer mom, an ultra-faithful school volunteer, a DIY warrior, a party planning fanatic, a research geek, a trigger-happy photographer, a rabid blogger, a freelance workaholic writer, a part time creative consultant, a Facebook addict, a Twitter twit, an oversharer, and a 'Cellphone!  Where's my cellphone??!!' dependent ... you'd want gadgets that are just as good at multitasking as you.

This is how my heart instantly fell for the new Nokia C7.

Sweet mother, it's a match made in heaven!  With its Social Networking Integrated feature, I can easily get and give live updates on Facebook and Twitter, post pics, and calendar events all at the same time.  I can go around scoping for places I can write about and take high-quality pictures while I'm at it.  I can simultaneously do research for my clients while my kids and I listen to their favorite tunes (which they would most likely upload on the phone).

Can you believe all this multitasking mastery!  It's EXACTLY like me --albeit in a slimmer and sleeker package.  Uh...eherm.

Seriously, it would be an un-Santa thing to keep us apart.  This Christmas, I'm keeping my fingers and all appendages crossed that the Nokia C7 would knock on my door come Christmas morning.  We're peas in a pod, lovers on the moon, we're meant to be.

Santa won't let such perfect compatibility crumble...would he?

The Cartoon Profile Pic Bandwagon

Let's talk about Facebook viral bandwagons.  You know what I'm talking about.  Those posts that ask you to add a support-something sticker on your profile pic, or change your status to a color that would suggest the color of your bra, or indicate the spot where you usually leave your purse on/in but in a manner that would lead people to think it's where you want to have sex, or post your shoe size so people would think... otherwise.

I'm not nuking those.  I've actually joined some.  More for fun than to support the cause, unfortunately.  That's because sometimes the gimmick runs ahead of the objective.  Honestly, up to now, I cannot connect bra color to supporting breast cancer.  Sure, sure, bras are for breasts.  But the clasp (so to speak) to lock color and cancer together is somehow missing.   That could just be me.

Then suddenly, out of the woodwork, along comes ...'Change your profile picture to a cartoon character from your childhood and invite your friends to do the same.  There should be no human faces on Facebook until December 6.  Just an invasion of happy childhood  memories.  This is in support of the fight to stop Violence Against Children.'

Whoa!  That one clicked!
Nothing brings constant joy to children more than cartoons.  Nothing puts an adult on a heart-first plunge into childhood nostalgia than cartoons.  Nothing stomps the crap out of violence other than happiness.  Nothing washes away the pain quite like the surge of uplifting memories.  Good clasp!

And just like that,  Maleficent of Sleeping Beauty made it into my profile album.  Ok, ok, she's evil.  But she is hot, you gotta admit.  When I was a kid, I would've done anything to be able to transform into a huge, purple dragon spewing green fire to toast my enemies into fertilizer.  She was (IS!)  my hero!  All cartoon characters ARE heroes, whether you've known violence as a child or not.

Of course, this effort only scratches the surface.  But the cause is powerful, the campaign is sound, the support is personal, and it's very welcoming to see Facebook so overwhelmingly cheerful and flashback-inducing.

So like the millions in cyber world, I'm supporting this Facebook bandwagon to end Violence against Children.  For the cause.

Not just because I'm a mother.

But because I was also a child.
