Happy NERFday by Midnight Snacks
Do your eyes deceive you?
Nu-uh.
This is indeed a Nerf Rapidstrike Assault Rifle. Powered with chocolate and vanilla buttercream filling. Amped with marshmallow fondant. The perfect secret weapon for a 14-year old Nerf nut's surprise birthday party.
Boom.
So let us take a moment to bask in the magnificence that is another Midnight Snacks cake!
Midnight Snacks has always been my go-to for my most insane cake ideas. I'm not kidding in the least when I say that if you can think it, they can make it.
I mean, just look at the craftsmanship on this baby. The meticulous attention to detail. That tiny Elite emblem alone had me geeking out of my mind!
And the flavour goes beyond your sweet tooth's expectations. Underneath this magical coat is a fluffy, creamy cake. Oh, and the chewy Nerf darts were a big hit, too!
I bet this post alone has got you drooling.
If you got a party coming up, sugarcoat it with the best cake you can think of. Just about anything! And see it come to life, thanks to Midnight Snacks.

A Chunky Soft Batch's Guide to Comfort Food
Ah, comfort food. It's that thing you crave for on a gloomy day. That single sinful decadence that will make everything okay.
But not all gloomy days are created equal. Some days are more harrowing. More complicated. And no amount of luscious chocolate cookie is enough to make things better.
Good thing not all comfort foods are created equal either.
Presenting… drum roll… Midnight Snacks Chunky Soft Batch Cookies!
Cookies that are made with extreme comfort in mind.
Having had one of the most insane weeks of my life, I just had to get the assorted box. Because I felt I deserved the overflow of goodness. Midnight Snacks seemed to agree. They even threw in an extra cookie.
Now, for my drool-worthy review.
WHITE CHOCOLATE RED VELVET
The cupcake flavour favourite not only made it into a cookie, but it has gone off and married the pristine perfection of white chocolate. A lavish combination that takes you to heaven, sinner or saint.
CINNAMON SMORES
Eating this was nostalgic. It's a camping weekend with a campfire and charred mallows. It's a delightful trip. After all, the key to a comfort food's strength is its ability to take you away, even as you stand still.
DARK CHOCOLATE PRETZEL
Sweet and salty has come out to play. The pretzel takes you back to a crunchy snack time after school. But this time, made more desirable with its brilliant medley with the bittersweet gift of dark chocolate.
BLACK AND WHITE CHOCO CHIP
This is closest thing to a basic cookie. And yet, it's still not as simple. Luscious chunks of chocolate encrust this temptation. It's a concoction that pushes the regular chocolate chip cookie to greater heights.
BUTTER PARMESAN
Butter and Cheese together? Can you even imagine the overload of luscious positivity coming out of this? It's like a never-ending breakfast at a gazebo of an Italian cafe. Taking it creamy. Taking it slow.
Was I too poetic just now? Good food and feeling good does that to me.
If you must find comfort in something you can taste and enjoy, don't hold back. Midnight Snacks Chunky Soft Batch gives you a whole new level of 'feel good' beyond what you expect, above what you believe, and exactly as rich you deserve.
Order now.

Turning Ten
Turning 10 is a huge deal. It's the first step into the world of the 2 digits. It's the big 1-0. It's that point in life when you feel like you've hit semi-adult and yet people still treat you like a little kid. *sigh*
A milestone like this deserves another beyond-awesome gamer cupcake set. And... a song.
I get you, big boy. I get you. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :)

How to pull off a little BIG school party
Hosting a school party for pre-teens can be the scariest thing. These kids are on the brink of teenhood --moody, highly opinionated, and judgmental (lol!). It's even scarier when the party you're hosting is for your boy's 12th birthday, and he's all, "I don't want a kiddie party, mimi. Just something simple but awesome. Like I won't get embarrassed or anything..."
Oohkaay.
Solution: GO BIG! Without breaking the bank.
Go big on food. You can never go wrong with pizza. But why stop there? Get the biggest thing in pizzas. Say, Jugno's Monster Pizza. I went with kid-friendly flavors but went the whole 20 and 36-inch goodness. The kids were all "Wow!", "That's huge!", "Awesome!"
A tip: Get them pre-sliced into squares for that no-hassle, easy distribution.
Go big on the cake. I went with cupcakes --again, for that no-hassle, less messy distribution. For the design, I went with the biggest thing in gaming: Teen Fortress 2. And the biggest thing in themed cakes: Midnight Snacks.
Midnight Snacks rock the character cake-making department, like, so hard! Can you just look at these details? The kids were geeking out the whole time! I heard a lot of "That's Pyro!", "This is so cool!", "Whoa! TF2!!!" And the cupcakes were in choco banana flavor. Another win! This time, in the taste department!
Of course, you want to be the bigger party planner for the teachers, too. So even with a shooting video game theme, you DO NOT put guns in your design; and you DO NOT serve soda with your pizza. Good, good mommy. :)
The best part is watching my boy, Miro, from afar --beaming like the sun as he munched on a cheese pizza alternating with a badge cupcake (He didn't have the heart to eat his favorite TF2 characters, lmao!) as his classmates went on thanking him and telling him how cool his little party is.
All in all, I spent less than Php4,000 for this success. A small price to pay to hear your preteen say, "That was the best birthday ever, mimi!"
Hear that? That's MY birthday wish coming true. :)
Disclaimer: This blog does not aim to push TF2 to preteens. The point of this blog is to push party planning bigness without spending big. Feel free to theme your child's party to what he or she feels is 'big' for him or her.

The First Ever Bulalo Cake.
HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, BULALO MISMO!
I say this calls for a crazy-ass birthday cake. Of course, Midnight Snacks rose to the occasion once a-gaaain!
Since I'm never going to beat my husband in the cooking arena, I decided to go left field. I will just surprise him with a cake in the image and likeness of his little business' most popular fare --a Bulalo Cake! The thought of it is so mind-boggling, I just had to run with it!
So Miro, Kenji, and I sat down to brainstorm on the design. Think, think, think. Eureka. And there you have it --our badass cow mascot marinating in the jacuzzi of soupy love. Midnight Snacks got our crazy idea to the dot! It's hard to believe it's cake. But it is! Delightfully moist carrot cake! :)
The Bulalo Bosses love it to bits!
And the innocent cake givers are just way too pleased. We got our cake and we got to eat it, too.
Thanks again, Midnight Snacks!

Midnight Snacks: The Delish is in the Details
I don't think I'll ever stop blogging about Midnight Snacks. Not if they don't stop coming up with awesome stuff like this!
Ok, It was Kenji and Alpha's birthdays. And Miro thought what better way to celebrate it than with a Finn and Jake theme. Boy and dog = boy and dog. Perfect! Kenji loves that show, too, so double awesome.
Of course, there were things to consider with joint birthday cakes like this. Kenji loves chocolates, and Alpha can't eat chocolate (it's a dog thing). And I didn't want an obvious cut in the middle of the cake design. Midnight Snacks had a creative solution to that, of course. Half of the cupcakes were chocolate-flavored and designed to be the snow-covered lair of the Ice King. The other half were carrot cupcakes topped with the grassy woods of Finn and Jake's treehouse locale. All tied together by the magically elastic arms of Jake. Brilliant!
As you would have it, the final execution floored us --A-GAIN!
From the character craftsmanship. See Finn's sock folds and BMO's buttons?!
To the dioramic details. Treehouse for the win!
To the tiniest tidbits. It's Gunther and the gang, man! All half an inch of them!
Miro was in complete awe at how Midnight Snacks pulled this off. It took him a while to finally sink his teeth into these masterpieces. He was particularly concerned about destroying the Ice King's lair. :P
Kenji loved his cake so much that he would rather re-arrange the pieces and stare at them. Then, re-arrange them again and stare at them again. Haha!
Alpha... well, when she gets her cake, she'll eat it, too! Smart girl. Midnight Snacks don't just make fabulous cake art, but they make them crazy-tasty, too. The carrot cake was insanely delicious!
Oh, there's more where that came from! For more daring designs and drool-inducing delectables, check out Midnight Snacks here.
Or, you can just wait for my next blog. I'm ordering our next cake soon. :)

Lego Zombie Cupcakes. Ze Bomb.
It's Miro's 11th birthday and we're kicking cupcake creativity up a notch!
His latest interest is pure, unadulterated zombies. Call of Duty zombies, Left4Dead zombies, The Walking Dead zombies, ooey-gooey-goody zombies.
So if you're serving up a zombie-themed cupcake spread, how do you it with just the right balance of gore and giggles?
First, we went swimming (even when about to face a zombie, you want to do it fresh, ha!).
Midnight Snacks took care of the rest.
Presenting Miro's Zombierthday Party Cupcakes! Moist chocolatey goodness snug in a thick blanket of sweet finely-sculpted fondant. In colorful Lego palette, no less! There's your balance.
The craftsmanship was just insane! The details were way, way over expectations! It was blood-curdling and lip-smacking all at the same time!
Now for those who are just about to go into cardiac arrest, the rifles are simply yummy representations of the good guys' defense in the fictional zombie apocalyptic video games kids play nowadays.
And the blood, well, it's strawberry syrup. Not real blood. Sorry to disappoint.
Bottomline, it was fun and quirky and really put my boy into that 'I... want... braaaains...' birthday kind of mood. I call that an undead success.
Got a crazy idea for your next party cake/cupcakes? Leave it to Midnight Snacks to pull it off. And, how!

Personalize Pasko with Midnight Snacks
I'm big on personalizing stuff. I go full rabid mode on this come Christmas. I'm not the kind who will buy presents in bulk. I'm the kind who will go the extra mile in making sure each gift has a personal meaning to the person receiving it.
Not too easy when we're talking about the entire teaching staff of my children's school, is it?
Thank goodness --and sweetness-- for a lovely little thing called Midnight Snacks. Run by the young, insanely creative oven queen, Larisse --Midnight Snacks bakes delicious cakes and goes the extra mile from there. Midnight Snacks personalizes each cake according to your whim. And gives brilliant inputs, too!
Just look at this masterpiece! It's a 12-inch round cake with Chocolate Buttercream filling and icing covered in Marshmallow Fondant. Got you drooling there, huh? But wait --there's more. The whole surface is shaped into my sons' school emblem in unbelievable detail (Read this: It's not sucking up when it's the season for giving, hmp!).
Carefully sculpted at the foot of the cake is the image and likeness of my boy, Miro, in perky, holiday spirit.
To the right, it's my boy Kenji with his dog Alpha --who happens to be an unofficial mascot of the school-- crafted in delectably edible form.
Capping the personal touch is the greeting on the side of the cake. I'm unabashedly proud of that. :P The Oohs and Aahs from the teachers --oh, that made me even prouder.
The good thing about this luscious cake idea is that it's something the teachers can eat and enjoy together as they bond before the school closes for the holidays. It's a lot more meaningful than when they get their own random gifts and then head on their separate ways. Pasko (as we know it) is also the season for sharing, after all.
The better thing: They'll remember that it's your children who made that meaningful, flavorful moment happen. *super slow clap*
If you're thinking of giving much more for Pasko and beyond, go personalized. Share the impeccable inside-and-out goodness of Midnight Snacks. I did. And I'll do it again!
